About Us
The LifeShare Foundation was established to support the activities and initiatives of LifeShare Network to help save more lives through organ, eye and tissue donation. The Foundation extends LifeShare’s philanthropic outreach in the community and gives LifeShare the opportunity to build partnerships across the state. The Foundation gives those affected by donation an outlet in their donation journey whether they are a donor family, recipient, recipient family or a community member.
The LifeShare Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness, providing ongoing support for those touched by organ donation and advancing research to honor the gift of life.
The Foundation is committed to raising and managing funds with the highest level of respect, integrity, and accountability. We will uphold the trust of the general public, our contributors, and prospective contributors by ensuring that all funds are managed responsibly and in support of our mission.
The waiting list continues to grow; every 7 minutes another name is added to the list. Every day 13 Americans die waiting for an organ transplant. With the critical need for transplants, it is crucial that the Foundation be able to continuously support LifeShare’s efforts.
AWARENESS
Every lifesaving transplant begins with a decision. The LifeShare Foundation supports statewide education and awareness efforts that help Oklahomans understand the impact of organ, eye and tissue donation – and inspire them to make the decision to give the gift of life.
LifeShare reaches communities across Oklahoma through educational programs, community events, media campaigns, digital and social media, and partnerships with organizations throughout the state. These efforts help create meaningful conversations about donation and encourage more Oklahomans to join the Oklahoma Donor Registry.
Our awareness efforts are amplified each year through campaigns such as National Donate Life Month in April and Decision Month in November. Throughout these campaigns, LifeShare engages Oklahomans through events, radio and broadcast advertising, digital and social media, traditional media and community partnerships.
Our events program and Speaker’s Bureau extend this work throughout the year, with more than 200 advocates participating in events annually. We are also strengthening relationships with Oklahoma's tag agencies, which play a critical role in connecting residents with donation information and the opportunity to join the donor registry.
Through these efforts, the Foundation helps ensure that Oklahomans have the knowledge and opportunity to make an informed decision about donation.
SUPPORT
Donation creates a lifelong connection between donor families, recipients and their loved ones. The LifeShare Foundation is committed to making sure no one has to navigate that journey alone.
Through LifeShare's comprehensive Aftercare program, donor families receive compassionate support and resources as they navigate grief and life after donation. Recipients and their families also have access to resources and opportunities to connect with others whose lives have been touched by donation and transplantation.
During the year following donation, donor families receive information about the impact of their loved one's gift, grief resources and other materials to support them through their journey. LifeShare also facilitates correspondence between donor families and transplant recipients when appropriate, creating an opportunity to share gratitude, hope and the profound impact of donation.
The Foundation also helps bring the donation community together through events such as the Little Red Heart 5K, held each fall. The event provides donor families, recipients, advocates and community members an opportunity to honor lives changed through donation and celebrate the gift of life.
RESEARCH
The future of donation and transplantation depends on continued innovation, discovery and collaboration. The LifeShare Foundation supports research that can help improve the donation and transplantation process and ultimately save more lives.
LifeShare participates in research initiatives across the country, contributing knowledge and expertise to advance the field of donation and transplantation. These efforts have earned recognition from organ procurement organizations and research partners nationally and internationally.
Research also represents an important opportunity for the Foundation to make an even greater impact. Through philanthropic support, the Foundation can help provide the resources needed to expand research initiatives, develop new opportunities and advance innovations that could shape the future of donation and transplantation.
